Big Eyed Fairy Drawing

I have been trying out new ways of drawing faces. I have been checking out manga and big eyed art and playing with it to see if they can still look my ladies if they have big sappy eyes. Okay even if they have big eyes, they didn't exactly come out sappy. I am rather liking the attitude.

Big eye fairy with a bit of attitude
So does it still look like my art?
The hair is supposed to look a bit like the goddesses that I did last year.
BTW she is

Any Interest??
Hey all,

I am looking for someone to help me with a project and upcoming birthday present!
I am desperately in need of someone local with a serger to help me finish some reusable menstrual pads for my daughter's 12th birthday. She has a specific cut of pad that she loves, and unfortunately the company who made them is no longer producing them. I have all the materials, cut to size and prepared. All I need is for someone to finish them off, and then sew a quick contouring stitch around the middle.

I am more than willing to compensate you for your time! I live in the McKinney/Allen area, but I travel all over, so I am flexible! If anyone is interested in giving us a stitch or two, your help will be greatly appreciated!

This painting was requested by Katie. She did a version a few weeks back and wanted me to do one as well. Here is Katie's...
Katie\'s Dreaming Cat

Now Katie isn't the only one I am taking requests from for the 99 Cats and a Bird Series. I have only completed 18 paintings (yes, I am behind on getting them posted), and I am running out of idea.
In the meantime to help support me while I spend all my time working on this project you can purchase prints and gift items featuring this image.

Edison - What a Shocker!
10x10" Acrylic on Canvas
By Request

This little fellow has a bad habit of chewing on wires. Due to his shocking curiosity he was named Edison. We are hoping that he is trying to invent something like a personal shock therapy device and not just trying to get himself killed or practicing for industrial espionage.

Please visit www.99CatsAndABird.com to see more of the paintings in this series. All paintings in this series are being done to raise money for the East Lake Pet Orphanage.

10x10" Mixed Media on Canvas

You all know that scene. The kitty seems to want to sit on the book. He can't imagine why you are getting so worked up about the whole thing, and by the way since you are there, why are you petting him?

The orginal will of course be available for auction at the East Lake Pet Orphanage sometime in Febuary. Details coming soon. But in the meantime you can find gift items featuring Emerson at Cafepress.

Cuthulhu Ink Drawing!
Cuthulhu Art Nuveau ink drawing
I know, after all the cuteness, this is a bit different. But I couldn't help it. The males in the household were having a marathon of Calls 4 Cuthulhu episodes and it all just kinda got stuck in my head. I actually did this shortly before my computer crashed. I was going through some things when I came accross this and realized that I had not shared this particular obsession that James has infected my darling baby boy with. But in honor of the boys in the home we have Cuthulhu.

Okay, and yes, I admit it, I like the the show too. Makes me actually considering reading the books once the Topamax stops messing with my brain enough to let me read a good book again.
And of course you can find some fun gift items reaturing this drawing on cafepress.

BTW I will be at the City Arts Festival the weekend of June 13th over in the Dallas Arts District. The DMA and the Nasher will be open all weekend for free for the event.

Bath House Cultural Center Spring Art Mart
This weekend is the Spring Art Mart. I am very excited. Last night's reception was very nice. Lots of folks came by. Today it is part of the Dallas Art Dealer's Association's Gallery Walk. Although Gallery Drive might be a better word for it.

Oh yeah, and they used one of my paintings on the website to promote the show!

some illumination is required
There are a couple of items that I'd like to make to customize to my own personal decor, but I'm having some trouble either finding the component parts, OR deconstructing the methodology.

The first item uses some sort of glass tile overlying Japanese craft paper (that I have in droves) and then either uses flat head thumb tacks, or magnets on the back to create unique and decorative push pins for an office corkboard, or magnets to keep someone stylishly organized. or to add some bling to a drawer or cabinet pull.

Here's where I got the idea: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=10670614

Now I've tried looking and asking for help tonight at JoAnn's, but with no luck. The closest item I found was a package of some little beveled square crystals, but the problem is they have some sort of mirrored backing. Now I thought maybe there's some way to strip the backing off (but I wouldn't have a clue how to do that). or maybe the perfect component already exists, I just haven't had any luck finding it. Can anyone help?

Item # 2 looks easy enough if I can just find the right components. Glass/Acrylic coasters, that can be customized by slipping in your own photos, paper, prints of artwork, etc. I'm not having any luck finding an item like this, anyone know of where I can find them?

Homage to Mucha
Well this week's illustration Friday's theme is Homage. So I did an Homage to Mucha. I love his illustrations and it fit right in with my fascination with mandalas. Not sure what to call the drawing. Although, I am thinking that it will be a painting before I am done. It is just calling out for some watercolor.
